This month we are sending out a combined announcement about two back to
back meetings:

Tuesday, December 14, 2010 6-8pm

Auto-Free New York and the vision42 working group will hold a joint meeting.
There will be a brief presentation "Light Rail Around the World - Why not
in NYC?", followed by progress reports on efforts to advance vision42 -
an auto-free light boulevard for 42nd Street and cordon pricing.

Bring your ideas for this open discussion.

The Regional Rail Working Group will discuss four Hudson River rail
tunnel proposals:

1. ARC rail passenger tunnel via Hoboken-Penn Station-Grand Central
2. Amtrak high speed rail tunnel proposal
3. Extension of #7 subway to Secaucus, by way of Hoboken
4. Rail freight tunnel and carfloat options

Auto-Free New York has been meeting on a monthly basis for over two
decades to discuss ways to reduce the overload of motor vehicular use
especially in the crowded core of our city. For more info checkout

The vision42 working group also meets monthly to discuss efforts to
advance a plan for a modern light rail line in an auto-free 42nd Street,
river-to-river, linking the ferry docks with entertainment and office
centers and terminals on NYC's most famous crosstown street. For more

The Regional Rail Working Group is an informal collaboration of transit
advocacy organizations that meet monthly to advance plans for
transforming the commuter rail lines that serve the NY-NJ-CT metropolitan
area into a truly regional rail system, with frequent service, integrated
fares and through operation. For more info checkout

All three organizations operate under auspices of the Institute for
